The duplex stainless steel 2205 alloy is a made up of 22% chromium, 2.5% molybdenum and 4.5% nickel nitrogen alloy. It has high strength, good impact toughness as well as good overall and is resistant to stress corrosion.

The advantage of 2205 duplex stainless steel

1.The yield strength is more than twice higher than the common austenitic stainless steel, and it has the sufficient plasticity and toughness of molding. The wall thickness of a storage tank or a pressure vessel made of duplex stainless steel is reduced by 30-50% comparing with the conventional austenite, which is good on reducing the cost.

2.It has excellent corrosion resistance. Comparing with other austenitic stainless steel alloy, its wear resistance, corrosion and fatigue corrosion are better .

3.Its coefficient of linear expansion is lower than austenitic stainless steel which is nearly same as carbon steel. So its meaningful when combining with carbon steel in some industry.

4.Whenever in dynamic or static loading conditions, it has higher energy absorption capacity than austenitic stainless steel. 2205 duplex stainless steel has more practical value when dealing with the unexpected incidents of the structural parts such as collision, explosion, etc.
