Monel400 is a kind of alloy which is widely and largely used as a kind of excellent corrosion resistant steel. This alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid and fluorine gas medium, also it has excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated lye. Whats more, it is also resistant to neutral solutions, water, sea water, atmosphere, organic compounds, etc. An important feature of the alloy is that it does not produce stress corrosion cracking and has good machinability. 

Its corrosion resistance is generally superior to that of nickel and copper. It is more resistant to reducing media than pure nickel, and has better corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and carbon than pure copper. In particular, the corrosion resistance to hydrochloric acid has excellent corrosion resistance to hot concentrated alkali. Monel400 alloy has excellent corrosion resistance in fluorine gas, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid and their derivatives. At the same time, it is more corrosion resistant in copper than copper-based alloys.

The maximum temperature of Monel400 can work continuously in air is about 600℃.The corrosion rate is less than 0.026mm/a in high temperature steam. Ammonia: due to nickel content of Monel400 alloy is high, it can resist corrosion under 585℃ in anhydrous ammonia and ammoniation conditions.
