Description

310 SS is a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel designed for use at high temperatures. The high Cr and Ni contents allow the alloy to resist oxidation when used continuously at temperatures up to 2200 °F, provided that there is no reduced sulfur gas. In intermittent use, it can be used at temperatures up to 1900 °F because it resists fouling and has a relatively low coefficient of expansion. The increase in silicon content further increases the oxidation resistance at higher temperatures. The carburizing atmosphere may shorten the total life based on actual conditions. However, these grades have excellent tolerance compared to the low chromium nickel grade.
